How to Choose a Remedy & How to Dose

How to choose a remedy:

When selecting a homeopathic remedy, it's essential to observe and note the symptoms being experienced. These symptoms are crucial for matching them to a similar symptom picture; homeopathy emphasises symptoms rather than illnesses or diagnoses, as everyone has a unique experience of their symptoms. Look for the ailment and then choose the remedy that matches the symptom picture. If you are uncertain, select the most likely remedy or consider a few remedies to create a combination.

After administering a remedy, monitor any changes in symptoms, as improvement may indicate that the correct choice was made. If symptoms do not improve or shift, it may be necessary to re-evaluate the symptoms and consider trying another remedy.

If you are still unsure, review the materia medica at the back of the book for in-depth remedy profiles.

Water dosing:

Place two drops of homeopathic remedy into a 500ml bottle of water (glass is preferable). Seal the bottle and shake it vigorously; this process will medicate the water throughout. You can then sip from this bottle for each subsequent dose. If you need to dose frequently, prepare a fresh bottle every 24 hours. Each sip from this prepared bottle is considered a dose, stimulating the vital force to trigger a healing response in the body.

Dropper dosing:

You can dose a couple of drops directly into your mouth. Two drops of liquid from a remedy is considered a dose.

Dosing for infants:

Put two drops of homeopathic remedy in a small bottle of water and from that either use a syringe or spoon to administer a tiny dose into their mouth. You only need enough liquid to coat their mouth.

Pillules:

If you are using a homeopathic remedies in pillule form, you can follow the water dosing instructions by placing two pillules into a bottle of water and shaking it to medicate the water. Alternatively, you can take two pillules and place them under your tongue to dissolve for a direct dose, allowing for effective absorption of the remedy.

If you are giving pillules to infants who are not yet eating solids and are only accustomed to having liquid in their mouths, you can crush the pillules and mix in with water.

Dosing note:

Do not eat or drink 15 minutes prior to or after dosing to prevent any interference with the remedy's effectiveness.

Medications and Homeopathy:

Homeopathic remedies are generally safe to use and typically do not contraindicate the medicines prescribed by your Doctor. If you are concerned, please book an appointment with a homeopath or seek medical advice.

Serious Accidents or Emergencies:

In the case of serious accidents or emergencies, seek professional help immediately.

With chronic ailments, an appointment with a homeopath should be sought.

Frequency of Dosing

With homeopathy, it is important to match the frequency of dosing with the intensity of the condition being treated.

Intense Conditions: For acute and intense conditions, such as high fever or severe burns, frequent dosing is ideal. In these cases, take a dose every 15 minutes to an hour.

Moderate Conditions: For moderate conditions that cause noticeable discomfort, such as a cold or headache, dose every 2 to 4 hours.

Mild Conditions: For mild conditions that cause minimal discomfort, dosing 2 to 3 times a day is recommended.

As the condition begins to improve, you can gradually reduce the frequency of dosing or consider stopping altogether. Always monitor symptoms closely, as this will guide you in adjusting the dosing schedule appropriately.
